Wessex Electrical Services Ltd – Terms and Conditions of Business

1. General

These Terms and Conditions apply to all services provided by Wessex Electrical Services Ltd (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”). By engaging the Company to carry out any work, the client agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

2. Quotations and Additional Work

All quotations issued by the Company are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated.

Quoted prices are based on the information provided by the client and on a standard scope of work. Any alterations, deviations, or additions to the agreed scope – including unforeseen work or access issues – will be considered extras and charged separately. These will be quoted for and agreed upon in writing before commencement.

3. VAT

All prices quoted are Inclusive of VAT. VAT will be applied at the prevailing rate (currently 20%) on all applicable charges.

4. Deposits

For certain projects or installations, particularly those involving bespoke materials or significant lead times (e.g. EV charger installations or consumer unit upgrades), the Company may request a deposit before works commence.
The amount and due date for the deposit will be specified in writing prior to acceptance of the job. Work will not be scheduled or materials ordered until the deposit is received in full. Deposits are non-refundable in cases of cancellation with less than 48 hours' notice, or where materials have already been ordered on behalf of the client.

5. Ownership of Materials and Intellectual Property

All materials supplied and installed by Wessex Electrical Services Ltd, including associated intellectual property (e.g., designs, drawings, documentation), remain the property of the Company until payment is received in full.
Until full payment is made, the Company reserves the right to reclaim materials supplied and may withhold certificates, test results, or installation documentation.

6. Payment Terms

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is strictly due upon completion of the work.

Completion is defined as the point at which the agreed scope of work has been fulfilled and the client has been notified of such.

7. Non-Payment and Recovery of Costs

In the event that payment is not received within the agreed time frame, Wessex Electrical Services Ltd reserves the right to initiate recovery proceedings.

This may include the engagement of a professional debt collection agency or legal action.

All costs, commissions, and fees incurred by the Company in recovering overdue payments will be added to the client’s outstanding balance and are fully recoverable.

Please note: Engaging a debt recovery agency may result in a negative impact on the client’s credit rating, which could affect future borrowing or credit applications.

8. Cancellation and Postponement

If the client cancels or significantly postpones agreed works with less than 48 hours’ notice, the Company reserves the right to charge for lost time or materials already purchased specifically for the project.

9. Limitation of Liability
Wessex Electrical Services Ltd Carries Public Liability Insurance up to £10 million and Professional Indemnity Insurance up to £500,000.

While every effort is made to ensure safety, accuracy, and quality of service, the Company shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage arising from the services provided, except in cases of proven negligence.
